What we plan to cover

These starting topics draw on Pennsylvania fifth-grade resources and the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) fifth-grade topic model. They are planning notes, not a claim of complete standards alignment. Each published activity is mapped and reviewed individually, and school pacing varies.

  • Math: fraction equivalence and operations; decimals and place value; multi-digit operations; volume; coordinate grids.
  • Reading: main ideas; evidence and inference; theme; summaries; comparing texts.
  • Writing and Language: context clues; roots and affixes; grammar; punctuation; revising sentences.
  • Science: matter and properties; ecosystems and energy; Earth systems; space patterns; engineering reasoning.
  • Social Studies: maps; timelines; civics; economics; United States and Pennsylvania history matched to lesson scope.
