What is Studying with Dad?

Studying with Dad is a growing collection of interactive study games built to make practice more engaging. Kids get something to solve, explore, and try again, with helpful feedback along the way.

Is it really free?

Yes. There’s no subscription, paid upgrade, or credit card required. We’re not planning to sell you anything. We started building this for our own families and wanted to share it with yours.

Who’s behind it?

A dad of two boys with more than 15 years of development and design experience, joined by friends who understand the same busy schedules and homework struggles. Some are developers, too, and they’re helping bring the project to life.

What grades and subjects do you cover?

We’re in beta and adding activities as we go. Our focus includes math, reading and language arts, science, and social studies. Availability varies as the library grows, so check the games for the topics currently offered.

Why does the library seem small?

Because you’re here early! Studying with Dad is in beta. We’re building, testing, and improving activities as we go. We’d rather grow thoughtfully than fill the library with games that aren’t useful.

Does this replace homework, a teacher, or tutoring?

It’s an extra way to practice. Your child’s teacher and schoolwork provide the context for what they’re learning. Our games give them another opportunity to work with those ideas and build confidence.

Will this match what my child is learning at school?

You may find activities that overlap with current schoolwork, but lessons and teaching methods vary by school and district. Check each activity’s topic and intended grade rather than assuming it follows your child’s curriculum exactly.

Can my child practice something they haven’t learned yet?

Absolutely. Exploring a new topic is welcome. So is revisiting an earlier skill. The goal is useful practice at a level that works for your child, without pressure to rush ahead.

Do I need to sit beside my child the whole time?

The goal is for students to use the games independently, with instructions and feedback to help them along. Some children will need help getting started or understanding a concept. Playing together can also give you a useful glimpse into how they’re thinking.

Will the games all look and play the same?

No. Some use our familiar Studying with Dad theme, while others have their own colors, characters, and game mechanics. We want variety while keeping instructions and controls easy to understand.

Can we use it on a phone, tablet, or Chromebook?

We’re designing the games for modern browsers on phones, tablets, Chromebooks, and computers. During beta, some activities may work better on a larger screen. Let us know if something doesn’t behave properly on your device.

Can I request a specific lesson?

Yes! Tell us the grade level, subject, and skill your student is working on. Please leave out your child’s full name and other personal details. We can’t promise every request will become a game, but suggestions help us decide what to build next.

What if I find a wrong answer or something that doesn’t work?

Please tell us. Share the game’s name, the question or problem you noticed, and what happened. If it’s a technical issue, your device and browser are helpful details, too. You’re helping make the experience better for the next family.

Does this guarantee better grades?

No. A study game can offer useful practice, but it can’t promise a particular test score. We’re interested in the smaller signs of progress: understanding a tricky idea, needing less help, or being willing to try again.

Is this just for dads?

Not at all. Moms, grandparents, guardians, teachers, and anyone helping a child learn are welcome. The name tells you where the idea started, not who gets to use it.
